High School Assistant Principal

Volusia County Schools invites applications for the following position: High School Assistant Principal Location: Spruce Creek High School Position Goal: To assist the Principal in carrying out the administrative responsibilities of the school center and assume therole of the Principal in the absence of the Principal. Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree in an education field• Possesses or is eligible for a valid Florida Educator Certificate in Educational Leadership, Administration andSupervision or School Principal at the same level as the position• Successful completion of the district school-based administrative screening and selection process• Three (3) years of successful K-12 level teaching experience• Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver’s License, agree to acquire aFlorida Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required Required Skills: Demonstrates the Florida Principal Competencies routinely• Strong written, verbal, interaction and presentation skills in order to effectively communicate with all stakeholders• Ability to use group dynamics within the context of cultural diversity• Strong planning, organization, motivational, management and evaluation skills• Possesses a thorough understanding of the practical applications of child growth and development• Ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively with both professional staff and school community• Demonstrates the knowledge and practice of current educational trends, research and technology• Ability to read, interpret and implement the applicable policies, rules, laws and regulations• Demonstrates knowledge of Florida educational reform, accountability and effective schools concepts
