Serving Those Who ServeMajor Duties: JOB TITLE: Child and Youth Program Assistant BUSINESS TITLE: Educational Aid JOB SERIES: 1702 PAY LEVEL: CY-I/II (GSE2/3/4) Introduction. Provides developmental care and instruction for children and youth (6 weeks-18 years) in CYP settings. Supports safe environments, age-appropriate activities, and inclusive care. Serves as a mandated reporter. GSE-02 (Entry Level - CY-I) Provides basic developmental care and instruction for children and youth ages 6 weeks to 18 years in CYP settings. Duties are introductory and designed to build skills for advancement. Supports planned activities and routines under close guidance. Serves as a mandated reporter for suspected child abuse or neglect. Assists with daily schedules, activities, and maintaining safe learning environments. Helps with play materials, routines, supervision, and meals/snacks. Supports children's developmental needs and positive interactions. Cares for children with special needs following medical and individualized instructions. Follows safety, health, and program regulations. Meets training requirements and maintains CPR/First Aid. Minimum age 18, HS diploma, able to lift 45 lbs, background checks/drug testing required. GSE-03 (Intermediate - CY-I) Provides developmental care and instruction for children and youth ages 6 weeks to 18 years, applying basic knowledge gained through prior training or experience. Supports and helps lead age-appropriate activities as part of continued development toward higher-level roles. Serves as a mandated reporter for suspected child abuse or neglect. Helps implement planned curriculum and may lead prepared activities. Serves as a primary caregiver and supports safe indoor/outdoor environments. Maintains professional interactions and provides parent feedback. Ensures supervision, safety, and reporting requirements. Supports inclusive programming and administers prescribed medications. Assists with program evaluation, compliance, and documentation. Requires 6+ months experience in group child/youth programs and completion of entry-level training or equivalent coursework. GSE-04 (Target - CY-II) Leads and implements developmentally appropriate care, instruction, and daily programming for children and youth ages 6 weeks to 18 years. Plans and conducts activities, experiences, and field trips that support program goals. Demonstrates knowledge of applicable child abuse prevention and reporting laws and serves as a mandated reporter. ? Role models appropriate practices and supports lower-level staff development. Plans and leads daily curriculum, activities, assessments, and special events. Documents developmental progress and communicates with families. Creates safe, engaging environments and oversees health/safety standards. Ensures program compliance, emergency response, and mandated reporting. Supports care plans for children with disabilities and implements individualized strategies. Requires 12+ months experience, advanced training/CDA/college credits, CPR/First Aid, and full background/drug-testing requirements.
