Elementary Reading Specialist

Prince William County Public Schools is inviting applications for the following position: Elementary Reading Specialist School Year: 2026-2027 Location: Triangle Elementary School Job Summary: This position develops and supports the implementation of an evidence-based literacy program and provides related educational support for teachers and students that are aligned to evidence-based reading research. This position usually performs duties within a team or departmental setting but might work independently in a unique teaching specialty. This position performs work under the general supervision of a principal and/or other designated administrator. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Knowledge of science-based reading research and evidence-based literacy instruction• Effective leadership qualities, presentation, facilitation, organizational skills, and personal characteristics to collaborate with teachers, students, administrators, parents, and the community.• Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning practices and experience in designing and delivering effective professional development to adults.• Evidenced instructional leadership skills to include a clear vision for a Division professional development program and successful experience teaching and coaching adults.• Strong organizational skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to formulate ideas and communicate them effectively.• Thorough knowledge of educational philosophy, educational research, methods and techniques of instruction, professional development standards, current educational issues, and Division priorities.• Ability to resolve conflict, listen to and appropriately respond to concerns. Required Qualifications: Master's Degree preferredSuccessful teaching experience in ELA Collegiate professional or postgraduate professional license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia ?Required to have or is eligible for Reading Specialist endorsement.
