Grade 5 and Grade 8Teaching Positions

We have a Grade 5 and Grade 8 teaching position available for the 26/27 school year. These position are full time and require that you be OCT certified or provincially certified. Our students come in with little or no understanding of English. You will have the support of an Ojibway Speaking Teaching Assistant. We encourage you to take a learning centre approach with an emphasis on developing English skills. It will be a challenge but our children come to school ready to love their teacher and the programming that you offer.You must be willing to work in a remote community. We are accessible by air: 40 air minutes from Winnipeg and Sioux Lookout and 20 air minutes from Red Lake. We have winter road access-- 6-8 weeks of the year during January, February and March. Our school population is made up 167 students who are keen on learning. They come to school with their first language (Ojibway) intact. The language of commerce is Ojibway in the community. As a teacher, you are immersed in a world of Ojibway culture.We are looking for two teachers who are willing to work with our children in a way that nurtures the love of school. We want teachers who see and feel that living in the north is an adventure and can appreciate the beauty of the vastness and emptiness of the environment.We offer a competitive salary with or near provincial rates plus offer an isolation allowance to offset increased living costs.  We will cover expenses in and out of the community, as well as at Christmas time.
