 Employment OpportunityGrade 2 TeacherFull-time Employment Opportunity   The East Central First Nations Education Authority (ECFNEA) is committed to providing the highest quality of Educational Services by our people to our people, for our people.  The Authority focuses on developing and implementing Culture and Cree Language Programs which focus on the needs of our First Nation community of James Smith Cree Nation.  The ECFNEA’s facilities include the Bernard Constant Community School located on James Smith Cree Nation (JSCN) and a sub-office in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. To obtain more information on the ECFNEA please visit our website at https://www.ecfnep.ca/ This Grade two position is located on the First Nation Community of James Smith Cree Nation with duties expected to commence as soon as a successful candidate is identified.  There are currently no accommodations available within the community.  Teachers travel into the community from local towns and cities such as Melfort, and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The Bernard Constant Community School is a dynamic Pre K- Grade 12 school, serving the needs of approximately 440 plus students. The school is supported by a professional staff of 30 plus teachers and a full complement of support staff. Our focus for the Bernard Constant Community School will see Trauma Sensitive programming with a full complement of a Wellness Team, a comprehensive Cree Language Program for all grades and divisions, along with a Land Based Learning Program, a Cultural Program, a Sports Academy Program and a Treaty Essential Learning Program.  Applicants who can speak the Cree Language, and can display knowledge of, and working experience in the other noted areas will be considered assets.  Duties and Responsibilities:Demonstrate a history of positive relations with students, parents, and staff.Strong classroom management skills using trauma informed practices is an asset.Incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planningContribute to the positive image of the school and James Smith Cree Nation.Nurture, support and guide young learnersPrepare engaging lessons and interactive learning activities/materialsConduct formal and informal assessment of studentsFacilitate learning activities both within the classroom setting and outdoor land-based activitiesParticipate in co-curricular school activitiesPromote and maintain high standards of behaviour, respect and safety within the classroomSupport families with open, ongoing communicationPrepare course timelines and materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handoutsPrepare lesson plans with clear objectives that follow SK curriculum standard and the ability to adapt curriculum with indigenous content.Create an atmosphere of innovation, teamwork, and creativity within the team. Position Qualifications:Understands and uses current literacy, numeracy practices and teaching strategiesModels a strong work ethic as well as high standards of commitmentMust have an awareness and appreciation of Indigenous cultureFosters school mission, values and sense of community through student-centered decisionsEffectively communicates with staff, parents and studentsMaintains professionalism through all school interactions and activitiesValues continual growth and development of school programs and curriculum Required Knowledge, Qualifications and ExperienceThe successful candidate must possess:Possess or be in application of a valid SK Teaching CertificatePossess a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in educationA CPIC with vulnerable sector check;A valid Driver’s license;A CPR Certificate: and A First Aid Certificate would be a asset. Preference will be given to existing employees and to members of the First Nations participating in the East Central First Nation Education Authority. Salary and BenefitsSalary/Wages are commensurate with experience.Extended health benefits, vacation or holiday pay, and personal/sick leave may be available depending on contract terms.
