The Art Teacher will provide engaging and inclusive visual arts programming for junior and senior high school students, helping students develop artistic skills, explore their creativity, express their identities, and build confidence through the arts.The successful candidate will believe that all students belong and can be successful and will create a welcoming classroom that meets students where they are. Programming will provide opportunities for hands-on, experiential learning and meaningful connections to Stoney Nakoda culture, community, identity, and the land.Depending on school needs and the successful candidate's qualifications, the teaching assignment may also include other junior or senior high school courses.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver engaging Art courses aligned with Alberta Education curriculum.Provide opportunities for students to explore a variety of artistic media, techniques, and forms of creative expression.Create hands-on and project-based learning experiences that encourage creativity, experimentation, and individual expression.Differentiate instruction to support a wide range of abilities, interests, and learning needs.Create a positive, inclusive classroom where students feel safe, respected, and confident taking creative risks.Incorporate Stoney Nakoda culture, language, artistic traditions, and ways of knowing in collaboration with community members, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers where appropriate.Integrate outdoor education and land-based learning into arts programming whenever possible.Provide opportunities to showcase student work through displays, exhibitions, murals, school events, and community projects.Work collaboratively with school staff, families, and community partners to support student success.QualificationsValid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility for Alberta certification.Bachelor of Education.Knowledge and experience in visual arts education.Strong understanding of Alberta curriculum, assessment, and differentiated instruction.Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive, and student-centred education. What We OfferCompetitive salary and comprehensive paid health, dental benefits as well as employer matching pension program.Opportunities for professional learning, including land-based education, Indigenous pedagogies, culturally responsive teaching, and trauma-informed practice.A collaborative and supportive school and district team.Teacher housing available for a low rental rate.
