Administrative and educational facilities include a sub-office in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, and the Bernard Constant Community School (BCCS) located directly within the JSCN community. Position Summary:The Reintegration program shifts from Western educational frameworks to a holistic, community-supported model grounded in First Nations Control of First Nations Education. Structured around the four quadrants of the Medicine Wheel, the program balances academic needs with spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being. It supports K-12 and Adult 12 students facing difficult or unforeseen circumstances that impact attendance. The reintegration worker will identify students who are at risk of dropping out or has low attendance regardless of grade. Work collaboratively with parents, guardians, Kokoms,Moshooms, osimihwawa(grandchildren), and ochapanyihwawa (great-grandchildren), to strengthen family-led support systems. The Reintegration Worker operates alongside the in-school Miyawyawin Center to foster a trauma-informed learning environment. Together, they help students develop essential life skills, including emotional regulation, self-esteem, anxiety management, and personal motivation. The Reintegration Specialist position is located on the First Nation Community of James Smith Cree Nation with duties expected to commence for the School Year 2026-2027.  The Reintegration Specialist will work under the supervision of School Principal.Position Summary:The Reintegration Specialist at Bernard Constant Community School drives student engagement, belonging, and persistence to ensure successful progression toward graduation for K-12 and Adult 12 students. Moving away from Western educational frameworks, this role operates within a holistic, community-supported model grounded in First Nations Control of First Nations Education. Structured around the four quadrants of the Medicine Wheel, the program balances academic needs with spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being.The Specialist identifies and supports students across all grade levels who are at risk of dropping out or experiencing low attendance due to difficult or unforeseen circumstances. Utilizing counselling-informed, trauma-sensitive, and relationship-based mentoring approaches, the role provides school-based psychosocial and relational support to strengthen both student well-being and family-led support systems.Operating under the general supervision of school administration and within the Student Services & Wellness team, this position collaborates closely with the in-school Miyawyawin Center, families, school staff, and partner schools. Together, they foster a trauma-informed learning environment, reduce barriers to school completion, and ensure seamless transitions across learning environments. The Specialist operates strictly within professional school standards, maintaining clear boundaries regarding clinical treatment, statutory authority, and external service delivery. The following criteria will be important considerations in the hiring process.Required Knowledge, Qualifications and ExperienceExpertise in guiding data collection, analysis of data and data-based inquiry to ensure identification of students at risk factors and intervention needs including reporting and gathering student data for ECFNEA.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge of a holistic approach to student support including family and community engagementCase management and providing direct support services to students.Ability to collaborate and drive consensus on student needs and intervention plansacross diverse group of school personnel. (Administrators, Learning Supports, Catalysts, and Miyawyawin Center) Essential Duties and Responsibilities:First Nations Education: Deep understanding of the history, principles, and value of First Nations Control of First Nations Education.Holistic Frameworks: Demonstrated ability to apply the Medicine Wheel framework practically to balance spiritual, emotional, physical, and academic well-being.Intergenerational Relationality: Ability to communicate respectfully and build trust with all generations, including Kokoms (grandmothers), Moshooms (grandfathers), osimihwawa (grandchildren), and ochapanyihwawa (great-grandchildren).Language & Protocol: Knowledge of Nehiyaw (Cree) language, local customs, values, and community protocols is highly preferred.Community Awareness: Understanding of the specific social, historical, and geographical context of the Bernard Constant Community School / James Smith Cree Nation area.Monitor and track student progress towards graduation and develop a post-graduation plan and/or plan for a diploma or certificate wherever appropriate.Partner with the Land-based and Cree language programs to facilitate learning activities both within the classroom and/or outdoor land-based cultural activities.Partner with Miyawyawin, Learning Supports, Literacy & Numeracy catalysts, and administrators to identify school-based strategies and solutions to address attendance, dropout prevention, and RTI intervention supports.Conduct home visits to reengage students with attendance issues, graduation plans.Visit students and their families in their homes to review their attendance, graduation plans. Support families to access community programs and resources and keep ongoing open communication.Act as a liaison between students and all education systems such as teachers, Miyawyawin staff and school administrators.Support the dropout intervention, school attendance policies, and redesign work by establishing the tools, procedures, and processes for providing interventions.Create an atmosphere of innovation, teamwork, and creativity within the team. The successful candidate must possess:Possess a Bachelor of Social Work, Education degree or related experience orEducation & ExperienceFormal Credentials: Degree or diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Indigenous Studies, Psychology, Education, or a related Human Services field.Relevant Experience: Minimum of –3 years of experience working with Indigenous youth, adults, and families in an educational, community, or wellness-focused capacity.Equivalency: A combination of relevant community leadership experience, deep cultural knowledge, and non-formal human services training will be highly valued and considered.A CPIC with vulnerable sector check;A valid Driver’s license;A CPR Certificate: and A First Aid Certificate would be an asset.Speaking the Cree language would be an asset.Preference will be given to existing employees and to members of the First Nations participating in the East Central First Nation Education Authority. Salary and BenefitsCompensation commensurate with experience and education. Extended health benefits, vacation or holiday pay, and personal/sick leave may be available depending on contract terms.
