Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and located at the Altus Air Force Base Child Development Center. The position may require the incumbent to transport children in a government vehicle therefore a valid state driver's license must be obtained and maintained; a good driving record may be required as a condition of employment. The Altus Air Force Base Child Development Center is seeking a Classroom Leader who can blend a passion for early childhood education with peer mentorship. In this role, you won't just run a classroom--you will guide and inspire your co-teachers, model outstanding developmental techniques, and partner closely with military families. If you are ready to lead by example and ensure the highest standards of safety and care, we want you on our team!Major Duties: CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT (ALL LEVELS): The incumbent will serve as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more child and youth programs and will be accountable for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Provides care/supervision, oversight and accountability for program participants. Assists in preparing age appropriate activities; supervises children and youth during indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings and special events; arranges and serves snacks/meals. Executes work in accordance with policies and regulations. May be required to transport children in government vehicles. CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT (LEADER LEVEL): PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Successfully demonstrate in-depth knowledge of: (1) Emergency procedures (2) Protection of children's/youth's health and safety (3) Child abuse recognition, reporting and prevention; positive guidance and redirection techniques; (4) Developmentally appropriate practice, e.g., activities planning and implementation, creating stimulating environments, observing children, positive adult to child/youth interaction; (5) Adult communication, e.g., assigns/delegates work to subordinates, models proper methods and provides guidance, conducts on-the-job instruction, performs parent conferences and develops rapport with parents; (6)Operational procedures, e.g., monitoring compliance with safety, health, security, and documentation process.
