The mission of the United States Air Force Academy is to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become leaders of character, motivated to lead the United States Air Force in service to our nation. USAFA, located just north of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is an undergraduate institution that awards the Bachelor of Science degree as part of its mission to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become officers of character, motivated to lead in the United States Air Force and in service to our nation. Faculty applications are invited from candidates who can contribute to this mission by interacting with cadets, both in and out of the classroom, as instructors and mentors. The student body consists of approximately 4,000 men and women representing every state and several foreign countries. The Academy faculty is an integrated group of military and civilian educators. The curriculum includes core academic and professional courses, and 27 disciplinary and interdisciplinary majors.Major Duties: The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), Department of Athletics, anticipates filling the TERM full-time position of SENIOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR (COMPLIANCE) AD-1701-23. This is a Title 10 Excepted Service Appointment. Appointment is not to exceed 5 years. Extensions and/or Subsequent re-appointments may be considered based upon an assessment of performance, Air Force and departmental needs, and funding availability. Major Duties of the Position: Serves as the principal advisor to the Senior NCAA Compliance Program Administrator within the athletic department. Ensures strict compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Disseminates Academy, NCAA, and conference issues/information to coaches and staff at weekly meetings. Provides continuing education concerning NCAA recruiting rules. Monitors all recruiting and practice season activities for assigned sports teams.Assists with rules violation investigations as necessary and recommends corrective actions. Maintains comprehensive database containing recruit and cadet-athlete information. Uses NCAA applications for submitting interpretation and waiver requests for assigned sports teams. Assists in certifying eligibility for cadet-athletes in assigned sports. Prepares NCAA squad lists for assigned sports teams. Conducts compliance reviews for assigned sports teams. Participates in monthly conference calls and annual MWC and NCAA compliance seminars. Serves as primary contact for the compliance software platform, a comprehensive database containing information for staff, cadet-athletes, and recruits. Coordinates with AFAAC and other department functional areas as required. Has primary responsibility for the completion and submission of required NCAA reports including the Academic Progress Report, the Graduation Success Rate Report, and the Sports Sponsorship Report. Serves and fulfills all roles of the Senior NCAA Compliance Program Administrator in their absence. Performs a variety of administrative functions, as required, to ensure the timely and effective delivery of NCAA compliance services. Participates in faculty governance by attending department and faculty meetings and serving, when requested, on departmental or institutional committees. May represent USAFA through service on conference-level, regional, or national committees. Maintains the professional and ethical standards of the USAF Academy. Proactively embraces the USAF Academy Core Values, Institutional Outcomes, Character Development Outcomes and USAF Academy regulations and operating instructions. Actively accepts responsibility as a role model and mentor to the cadets in their courses and programs. Maintains memberships in appropriate professional organizations, attends conventions, maintains liaison with others in the field (including military and civilian universities), and follows new developments to stay current with compliance best practices.
