Educational Aide (Special Education)

Summary About the Position: Positions are located within the Pacific West Region. These positions are not covered by a bargaining unit. All candidates must reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community. (5 CFR 575.203) Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA), as one of only two Federally-operated school systems, is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing prekindergarten through 12th grade educational programs on behalf of the Department of War (DoW). DoWEA is globally positioned, operating 160 accredited schools in 8 districts located in 11 foreign countries, 7 states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Provides assistance in toileting, feeding, eating and personal hygiene. Supports educational efforts in the Special Education classroom and general education classroom as needed. Performs administrative tasks such as attendance records, filing, scheduling, and reviewing assignments. Works with students in accordance with plans developed by the specialist and educator. Participates in Parent Teacher conferences. Distributing/collecting testing materials as needed by students. Preparing instructional materials related to classroom lessons.
